Strep-A rapid test Kits, also known as one-step strep A tests, are a lateral flow, one-step immunoassay for the rapid, qualitative detection of Group A Streptococcal antigen from human throat swabs. Rapid strep-A tests are in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) kits, and these IVD strep-A tests are widely used as an aid for diagnosis of upper respiratory infection such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis and scarlet fever. The object of rapid strepA test cassettes is called Beta-hemolytic Group A Streptococcus, which is the virus caused the above mentioned diseases.

It has been proved that early diagnosis of Group A Streptococcal pharyngitis can reduce the severity of disease symptoms and aovid further complications, such as rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis. While conventional testing methods used for the detection of these diseases depend heavily on the isolation and subsequent identification of the organism. This process often requires 24 - 48 hours to get the final testing result. With one-step strep-A diagnostic test devices, we can detect Group A Streptococcal antigen directly from throat swabs. When testing with a strep-A test cassette, the Strep A antigen from specimen, if any, will react with colored antibody-colloidal gold conjugate to form Strep A antigen-antibody complexes. The mixture then moves chromatographically across the membrane to the immobilized rabbit anti-strep A antibody at the test band region, and is captured by the binded antibody, a pink band thus appear. If there are no antigen in the specimen, no color will emerge on the test line region, indicating a negative result.
